- Alisma brevipes Greene, Pittonia 4: 158 (1900). Type: U.S.A.: Colorado, "low wet places as Piedra, southern Colorado", 12. July 1899, leg. C.F. Baker. - Alisma plantago-aquatica subsp. brevipes (Greene) Sam., Ark. Bot. 24A, 7: 19 (1932).

For numerous reports of North American diploids (2n = 14) see Björkqvist (1961, 1968). Also Löve (1954b) referred this number from North America but in an untrustworthy account.
Geography: North American: ALA (CAN).
Notes: Alisma triviale reaches the Arctic on the Seward Peninsula in western Alaska (Haynes and Hellquist 2000a). Scoggan (1978b) reported it from the Borderline Arctic at York Factory on Hudson Bay.
