130302-03 The Larix dahurica aggregate L. cajanderi, L. dahurica

2n= 24 (2x). - Siberia, Asia (C, E), Far East (N, S). - Numerous reports for L. dahurica + L. cajanderi. The eastern Asian reports belong to L. cajanderi.

Geography: Asian (N/C).

Notes: Khanminchun (1988) distinguished between Larix gmelinii (= L. dahurica) and L. cajanderi. He assigned the plants in southern and central Siberia to L. gmelinii, those in eastern Siberia eastwards from west of the Lena River to L. cajanderi, and a zone of transition was reported. He did not report L. gmelinii (= L. dahurica) to reach the Arctic in Yamal-Gydan or Taimyr. Koropaczinski (1989) accepted only L. cajanderi from the northern and arctic parts of the Russian Far East. The transitional forms suggest that rank of subspecies perhaps is the most appropriate one but we have not found any subspecific combination of "cajanderi" under the species name L. dahurica.
