Notes: The first publication of the name Lycopodium annotinum var. pungens Bach.Pyl. ex Desv., Mém. Soc. Linn. Paris 6: 182 (1827), was invalid as the name was cited only in synonymy. The name applied by Tolmachev (1960) - L. pungens "Bach.Pyl. (1827)" - was also invalid.
