NotesThree subspecies of Poa nemoralis are entered below. We are, however, not convinced that a subspecific treatment in necessary. The two additional subspecies may rather be hybrids.
Chromosomes14 15 (2x). - Europe, Russia, Far East, Canada (W). - Numerous reports.
Not included: Reports of 2n = 28 (4x) from southwestern Europe (Guinochet 1943), Bulgaria (Kozuharov and Kuzmanov 1970), and Japan (Tateoka 1954). The reports of tetraploids need critical evaluation before acceptance.
