Geography: American Beringian: ALA CAN.

Notes: Gornall (2009) reported Boykinia richardsonii only from Alaska and the Yukon Territory but the species is recorded from the Northwest Territories (see Porsild & Cody 1980) and specifically reported to reach just east of the Mackenzie (McJannet et al. 1993). It is not known from the Coppermine River area (see type) but the type may be from the westernmost part of the range reported in the protologue.

Boykinia richardsonii differs from the other Boykinias in some characters (see the key in Gornall 2009) and also in chromosome numbers. Gornall give the base number of the genus as x = 7, and the five other American species are reported with 2n = 14 and 28. The report of 2n = 36 from central Alaska (Knaben 1968) is especially deviating but we have inspected and confirmed the voucher (TROM).
