Not included: Reports of 2n = 40 from Putorana in northern Siberia (Krogulevich 1976a), and of 2n = 74 from the Altai in southern Siberia (Sokolovskaya and Strelkova 1948a). Both reports may belong to other races or species.

Notes: For the Siberian and Russian Far East regions, see subsp. alaskanus below. We differ from Brooks and Clemants (2000) by accepting subsp. arcticus from the Flora of North America area as we assign the plants from Greenland and northeastern Canada to this race.
