Notes: Goodyera repens reaches the Borderline Arctic in Finnmark in Norway. Hultén (1968a) mapped it from the Mackenzie River Delta in the Northwest Territories but Porsild & Cody (1980) did not include it from there and no supporting specimens are found in CAN or DAO.
Rydberg (1931) raised Fernald's var. ophioides to rank of species, whereas Brown (1995) reduced it to forma. Varietas ophioides seems to be based on a single character (Hultén 1943b: 490) and probably does not deserve rank above forma. American botanists have mostly annotated all their specimens as this variety.
