Myosotis alpestris subsp. asiatica Vestergr.
Publ. & Syn.Eritrichium czekanowskii Trautv., Trudy Imp. S.-Peterburgsk. Bot. Sada 5: 88 (1877). Described from northern Yakutia (Siberia). - Myosotis czekanowskii (Trautv.) Kamelin & Tichom., Redkiye i ischezayutsie vidi flori SSSR: 60 (1981).
NotesPetrovsky: Eritrichium czekanowskii, accepted by, e.g., Löve and Löve (1975a), is a form of Myosotis alpestris subsp. asiatica, see Petrovsky (1980a: 235).
Murray and Elven: Also the single Asian report of Cryptantha spiculifera is based on plants of Myosotis alpestris, see Excluded taxa.
Elven: Nikiforova (1997b) accepted, besides Myosotis asiatica (as species), M. czekanowskii as a local species in northern Yakutia between the lower Olenyok and Lena rivers (from where it was described). She also described a M. asiatica subsp. kolymensis from the lowermost parts of the Kolyma River. It was stated to be a local race but reported only with quantitative differences from M. alpestris subsp. asiatica (less caespitose due to longer rhizomes, larger flowers). Its value remains to be confirmed. The variation among northern populations of M. alpestris is appreciable but not yet sufficiently analysed for a consistent taxonomic treatment.
