NotesLansdown (2009) reported this new species from one collection from western Alaska: "Kotzebue-Kobuk Lowland", 1960, without collector (UAM). Its closest relative among the northern species seems to be Callitriche hermaphroditica.
Chromosomes6 (2x, x = 3). - Europe (N, C), Russia, Canada, U.S.A., Greenland. - Numerous reports.
Not included: A report of 2n = 12 (4x) from northeastern Asia (Probatova et al. in Tzvelev 1996b) needs confirmation.
