NotesYurtsev: At least three races (subspecies) are recognized within Potentilla gelida. The type race is from the Caucasus. If one compares the northern race of P. gelida and European populations of P. crantzii, the former? differs in thicker and shorter rhizomes, long patent flexuose pubescence of petioles, stems more robust and solid, pedicels covered with mixture of short recurved adpressed flexuose and longer straight patent hairs (not minute subcrispate), styles longer, etc.
