Trifolium L. | |
Publ. & Syn. | Casual: Trifolium arvense, T. aureum, T. cyathiferum, T. spadiceum, T. variegatum. |
Notes | Trifolium is polymorphic. Many authors have proposed to split it on several genera. In an extensive phylogenetic study including 218 of the approximately 255 species of this genus, Ellison et al. (2006) found Trifolium to be monophyletic. We accordingly do not split it but include the names in the alternative genera as synonyms. |
