Isl.: 164 (1937). - Stellaria borealis var. bongardiana Fernald, Rhodora 16: 151 (1914). - Nomen novum for Stellaria longifolia Bong., Mém. Acad. Imp. Sci. St.-Pétersbourg, sér. 6, Sci. Math. 2: 126 (1833), non Muhl. ex Willd (1809). Described from Sitka (Alaska).
NotesSubspecies sitchana is present in western North America north to south-central Alaska and the Aleutian Islands but probably not in the Arctic according to Morton and Rabeler (1989). Hultén (1968a) mapped an occurrence on the Seward Peninsula in arctic western Alaska. The material behind that record should be checked. Morton and Rabeler (1989) treated this entity as a race of Stellaria borealis and not of S. calycantha.
