NotesMorton and Rabeler (1989) considered Stellaria borealis to be the widespread species and with two subspecies. We follow that view but see the note above.

Not included: Löve and Löve (1975a) referred 2n = 52 for their S. calycantha subsp. calycantha (S. borealis + calycantha) and omitted the 2n = 26 counts altogether. Obviously erroneous.
