Rumex pseudoxyria (Tolm.)
Publ. & Syn.Rumex acetosa subsp. pseudoxyria Tolm., Fl. Arct. URSS 5: 152 (1966). Holotype (LE): Siberia: Yakutia, "in tundra glareosa prope sinum Tiksi", 10. July 1956, leg. A. Tolmatchev and B. Yurtsev. - Acetosa pratensis subsp. pseudoxyria (Tolm.) Á. Löve & B.M. Kapoor, Taxon 16: 520 (1967). - Acetosa pseudoxyria (Tolm.) Tzvelev, Novosti Sist. Vyssh. Rast. 24: 74 (1987).
NotesElven and Murray: Rumex pseudoxyria is a morphologically distinct northern Asian taxon replacing R. lapponicus in the Arctic in Siberia, the Russian Far East, and partly Alaska. If R. lapponicus is accepted, also R. pseudoxyria must be accepted but there is no specific combination within Rumex yet. Mosyakin (2005: 503) indicated possible western Alaskan occurrence. We can confirm that numerous Alaskan specimens from the coastal Beringian regions from Point Hope south to the Seward Peninsula, and also from St. Matthew Island, conform to R. pseudoxyria in at least three features (leaf shape, condensed inflorescence, large tepals). We accept R. pseudoxyria from western Alaska. In this region, R. pseudoxyria co-occurs with R. lapponicus without observed intermediates.
Chromosomes14 (female) / 15 (male) (2x). - Siberia (N), Far East (N). - At least four reports.
