Hystrix sibirica (Trautv.) Kuntze
Publ. & Syn.Kuntze, Revis. Gen. Pl. 2: 778 (1891) [comb. illeg.? see note]. - Asperella sibirica Trautv., Trudy Imp. S.-Peterburgsk. Bot. Sada 5: 132 (1877) [nom. inval.? see note]. Described from the Olenyok River near the Alakit River estuary in Yakutia (Siberia). - Elymus asiaticus Á. Löve, Feddes Repert. 95: 465 (1984). Nomen novum for Asperella sibirica Trautv.
NotesTzvelev (PAF proposal) did not report Hystrix sibirica from the Arctic. Peschkova (1990a) reported and mapped it north to the Arctic in Taimyr and also from the possibly Borderline Arctic in Anabar-Olenyok.
The name Asperella sibirica Trautv. 1877 may be invalid, first validated by B. Fedtsch., Fl. Transbaic.: 104 (1929). We are not sure what this implies for the Kuntze combination from 1891 within Hystrix.
Chromosomes28 (4x). - Löve (1984b, secondary report for Elymus asiaticus).
