Hystrix Moench | |
Publ. & Syn. | Moench, Methodus: 294 (1794). |
Chromosomes | (1) 21 (3x). - Dewey (1974, 1980). (2) 28 (4x). - Europe, Russia, Siberia. - Several reports. (3) 42 (6x). - Europe, Siberia, Canada, U.S.A. - Numerous reports, one (Bowden 1965a) with more than 150 counts. (4) 56 (8x). - Sakamoto and Muramatsu (1963); Löve and Kjellqvist (1973). (5) 63 (9x). - Dewey (1974). Löve and Löve (1975a) considered Elytrigia repens uniformly hexaploid but the reports above rather indicate a wide span and at least two main ploidy levels. For some reason (probably an editing error), Barkworth et al. (2007) reported this species with 2n = 22 and 42. |
