Carex pulicaris L.
Publ. & Syn.Michx., Fl. Bor.-Amer. 2: 171 (1803). Described from the Hudson Bay area (Canada). Type in P.
NotesThe results of Reinhammar (1999) and Reinhammar and Bele (2002) justify specific rank for Carex arctogena and C. capitata. There are constant differences in molecular markers between them, constant differences in morphology and ecology, a difference in distribution patterns (even if overlapping), and not a single documented transitional form or hybrid in spite of much general sympatry. They are two species both biologically and morphologically.
