Castilleja pallida (L.) Spreng
Publ. & Syn.Spreng., Syst. Veg. 2: 774 (1825). - Bartsia pallida L., Sp. Pl.: 602 (1753). Described from Siberia, leg. Gmelin, Demidoff. Lectotype not designated (Jarvis 2007).
NotesElven and Murray: Rebristaya excluded Castilleja pallida s. str. from the arctic flora. Egger (2008): "Pennell believed that the nominate form i.e., [C. pallida var. pallida] also occurs in coastal northwestern Alaska. My examination of herbarium sheets supports this assertion, especially with collections from the general vicinity of Nome, Alaska". The polymorphy in Castilleja on the Seward Peninsula is rather large, especially in what currently is included in C. caudata. Note, however, that C. caudata itself is described from the Seward Peninsula. We tentative include C. pallida and mark possible presence in East Chukotka and western Alaska.
