Rubiaceae
Publ. & Syn.Gray, Nat. Arr. Brit. Pl. 2: 396 (1821).
Chromosomes(1) 22 24 26 (2x). - Europe, Russia, Siberia, Far East (S), Canada. - Numerous reports.
(2) 32. - Europe (N), Siberia (N), Far East (S). - Samuelsson (1913); Hara (1956); Krogulevich (1976a); Krogulevich and Rostovtseva (1984).
The reports of 2n = 32 are enigmatic as the base number is assumed to be x = 13. The aberrant number has, however, been reported several independent times and can therefore not be outright rejected. The 2n = counts of 22-24 might be aneuploids or slight miscounts from 2n = 26. The assumption about the base number may also be wrong.
