Hylotelephium telephium (L.) H. Ohba
Publ. & Syn.Sedum telephium var. purpureum L., Sp. Pl.: 430 (1753). Described from Europe. Lectotype not designated (Jarvis 2007: 836). - Sedum purpureum (L.) Schult., Oesterr. Fl., ed. 2, 1: 686 (1814).
NotesHylotelephium telephium is considered specifically different from H. maximum (L.) Holub, and Sedum purpureum is a synonym of the former name. The species or species group is complicated. The adventive plants in northern European Russia probably belong to H. telephium s. str., whereas the native plants of Siberia (non-arctic) and the Russian Far East may belong to different species or races. Peschkova (1994c) accepted two species in the group from Siberia: Sedum [Hylotelephium telephium] and the non-arctic S. [H. sukaczevii] Maximova, Novosti Sist. Vyssh. Rast. 1968: 147 (1968), and she discussed the large variation in Siberia.
