NotesThe northernmost outlier populations of Gagea in the Polar Ural (Levichev 1999) were previously considered a local species: G. samojedorum. They may deserve subspecific rank within G. fragifera but no combination is available.

(2) 20 (4x). - Europe, Russia, Siberia. - Numerous reports.
(3) 25 (5x). - Siberia. - At least three reports.
(4) 30 (6x). - Siberia. - At least four reports.
(5) 40 (8x). - Siberia. - Krasnoborov and Rostovtseva (1975).
Paris quadrifolia is mostly reported with 2n = 20 (+ 0-10 B chromosomes) but reports from Siberia indicate more variation in that region.
