Angelica gmelinii (DC.) Pimenov
Publ. & Syn.Angelica lucida auct., non L., Sp. Pl.: 251 (1753).
NotesNorth American botanists have usually accepted only one species for their areas, Angelica lucida L. or Coelopleurum lucidum (L.) Fernald. That was also the treatment of Weinert (1973). Angelica lucida was described from eastern Canada and is in its strict meaning a non-arctic eastern North American species. The plant in northwestern North America connects morphologically to the northeastern Asian plant, A. gmelinii. Treatment as two races might be appropriate but we have seen no analysis of the morphological (or molecular) variation.
