Conioselinum pacificum (S. Watson) J.M. Coult. & Rose
Publ. & Syn.Conioselinum chinense auct., non (L.) Britton, Sterns & Poggenb. (1888).
NotesThe name Conioselinum chinense (L.) Britton, Sterns & Poggenb., Prelim. Cat.: 22 (1888) [Athamanta chinensis L., Sp. Pl.: 245 (1753)], has been applied to this Pacific species by, e.g., Hultén. However, in spite of its name C. chinense is a non-arctic eastern North American species. The designated type is from New York. The Pacific plants assigned under this name, either as subsp. chinense or as subsp. boreale (a name based on plants from Russian Karelia), all probably belong to C. pacificum. They differ from C. chinense s. str. morphologically and in being at least predominantly tetraploid.
