Publ. & Syn.Krasnob., Bot. Zhurn. 83, 2: 124 (1998). - Bupleurum ranunculoides var. arcticum Regel in Regel & Tiling, Fl. Ajan.: 97 (1858). Holotype (LE): Alaska: the Seward Peninsula, "Promontorium Espenberg, Sinum Kotzebue", 1816, leg. Eschscholtz. - Bupleurum triradiatum subsp. arcticum (Regel) Hultén, Fl. Kamtchatka 3: 158 (1929).
NotesMurray and Elven: Bupleurum arcticum is a geographically restricted species found within the range of the next one, rare in western Alaska and the central Alaskan mountains, frequent in northern Alaska, and also present in East Chukotka. Compared with the preceding and the next species, it is characterized by narrow and scarcely clasping leaves and more or less narrow, non-overlapping, green, and acute bractlets that usually are longer than the umbel rays. The fruit characters emphasized by Krasnoborov (1998) are difficult to check on arctic specimens as the majority of those have been collected too early for mature fruits.
Chromosomes16 (2x, x = 8). - Far East. - Arano and Saito (1977); Krogulevich and Rostovtseva (1984). Several of the other numbers and reports included for the aggregate above probably belong to this species.
