Publ. & Syn.Lonicera caerulea var. calvescens Fernald & Wiegand, Rhodora 12: 210 (1910). Described from Goose Pound, Newfoundland (Canada). - Lonicera villosa var. calvescens (Fernald & Wiegand) Fernald, Rhodora 27: 8 (1925).
NotesWe apply the combination Lonicera villosa (Michx.) Schult. for this American vicariant of L. caerulea. This combination is applied by many authors but we have not been able to find where it originally was published.
Lonicera villosa is polymorphic and recognized with several races, mostly treated as varieties. The one that reached the Arctic is var. calvescens (e.g., Scoggan 1979; Hultén and Fries 1986).
