NotesSambucus racemosa s. lat. is a polymorphic complex of several races or species (see Hultén 1971a). Only one of these reaches the Arctic. Specific rank is an alternative.

(2) 54 56 (6x). - Europe (S), Asia (E), Far East (S). - At least five reports.
Reports of hexaploids, especially those from eastern Asia, may belong to related species.
