| Notes | The name Leucanthemum hultenii Á. Löve & D. Löve was intended to be a nomen novum for Hultén's Chrysanthemum arcticum subsp. polare. Löve and Löve (1961b) cited the type noted above, intending it to be a holotype for Hultén's name. It is, however, inadmissible. There is no type indication on this sheet by Hultén himself and it is not among the sheets Hultén (1949b) cited in connection with his diagnosis, i.e., it it not part of the original material. Hultén described his subsp. polare from the Murman area only but illustrated and referred to two collections, the one from Jokenga in the Murman area cited above and one from Vaigach: Warnek Bay, 08. Aug. 1902, leg. Ekstam (S!). These are the two available as original material according to the protologue. The Murman area specimen should be designated as lectotype because it is the single cited specimen from the region from which the race was described. |
