Erigeron alpiniformis Cronquist
Publ. & Syn.Cronquist, Brittonia 6: 235 (1947). Holotype (US): Greenland: "ca. Neria, 6133'N", 21. June 1926, leg. Eugenius.
NotesCronquist (1947) considered Erigeron alpiniformis to be restricted to Greenland and to be generally similar to E. borealis but distinguished by the lack of a ring of non-ligulate female flowers between the female ligulate flowers and the bisexual disc flowers. It is also characterized by a finer and more wooly pubescence on the involucre and a whitish (vs. rufescent) pappus. This view was accepted by Nesom (2006b) who transferred all Greenland records of E. borealis and E. uniflorus s. str. to E. alpiniformis and we follow it provisionally.
Chromosomes18 (2x). - Greenland. - Böcher and Larsen (1950); Jørgensen et al. (1958); Gadella and Kliphuis (1971). The two former for E. borealis, all three for E. uniflorus.
We assign to E. alpiniformis all Greenland chromosome number reports for E. borealis and E. uniflorus.
