NotesThe plant of southern and of interior central Europe and throughout much of interior Asia is considered apart at racial level (subsp. pannonicum) from the western and northwestern European coastal plant (subsp. tripolium = Aster tripolium L. = Tripolium vulgare Nees). The coastal plant reaches the Arctic.
