Myosotis laxa subsp. cespitosa (Schultz) Hyl. ex Nordh.
Publ. & Syn.Nordh., Norsk Fl.: 529 (1940). See notes. - Myosotis cespitosa Schultz, Prodr. Fl. Starg., Suppl. 1: 11 (1819). Described from "ad pagum Ballin hinter dem Hofgarten, et prope Neobrandenb. am kleinen Jhlpol" (Germany)
NotesThe combination Myosotis laxa subsp. cespitosa (Schultz) Hyl. ex Nordh. may be illegitime. Nordhagen (1940) entered the name as subsp. cespitosa (Schultz) Hyl. without any indication that it was intended as a new combination and without any other reference to a basionym than the inclusion of "Schultz".
Petrovsky (PAF proposal) reported subsp. cespitosa as native in the arctic Russian regions, Sekretareva (1999) as adventive. We follow the latter course.
Chromosomesca. 80 88 (8x?). - Europe. - Several reports.
Not included: Reports of 2n = 22 (2x) from central Europe, 44 (4x) from central Europe and Ukraine, and 48 from Siberia and the Far East. These reports probably belong to other species.
