NotesElven: Mertensia pubescens is an Asian extension of the otherwise North American M. paniculata complex (Nikiforova 1997a) and should be re-evaluated.
       Petrovsky: I am not certain what plant Sokolovskaya counted the tetraploid chromosome number on. However, the same two ploidy levels are reported from M. paniculata.
