Mertensia maritima subsp. asiatica Takeda
Publ. & Syn.Takeda, J. Bot. (Tokyo) 49: 222 (1911). Described from Manchuria (China), Japan, and from Sakhalin, Okhotsk, and Kamtchatka (the Russian Far East).
NotesElven and Murray: Subspecies asiatica is not confirmed from the Arctic. Hultén (1968a) had a question mark for the Chukchi Peninsula but plants from this region that we have seen in collections and field belong to subsp. tenella. The material from the Koryak-Anadyr area (South Chukotka) should be investigated. We have seen specimens that tentatively could be assigned to this subspecies from arctic Nunivak Island in southwestern Alaska (ALA).
