Publ. & Syn.W. Wight, Bull. Torrey Bot. Club 29: 410 (1902). Holotype (US): Alaska: Old Man Creek, 09. July 1901, leg. Mendenhall.
NotesMurray: There are two morphologically different types of Eritrichium splendens, one with comparatively few, large flowers and inflorescences that do not extend much in fruiting stage, and one with more numerous, smaller flowers and extending inflorescenses. The two types occur mixed geographically, albeit not within single sites. There may be a difference in fruit surface features but other differences have not yet been proved. Whether there are two taxa is unresolved.
