Pedicularis verticillata L.
Publ. & Syn.L., Sp. Pl.: 608 (1753). Described from "Sibiria, Helvetia, Austria". Lectotype (LINN): Herb. Linn. 763.20 (Fischer 1997: 113). - Pediculariopsis verticillata (L.) Á. Löve & D. Löve, Bot. Not. 128: 518 (1976).
NotesIvanina and Elven: Löve and Löve (1976a) described the genus Pediculariopsis (with P. verticillata) mainly because of its different base chromosome number (x = 6, vs. x = 8 in Pedicularis). In this, they have been followed by no others, especially because morphologically quite similar plants - P. verticillata (x = 6) and P. amoena (x = 8) - thereby were assigned by them to different genera.
Chromosomes12 (2x, x = 6). - Europe (C, S), Siberia (N, S), Far East (N), Alaska, Canada. - Numerous reports.
GeographyEuropean (C-NE) - Asian (N/C) - amphi-Beringian: RUS SIB RFE ALA CAN.
