NotesThere are other races of Plantago major, at least in western Europe where one or two native shore races are accepted.
Chromosomes12 14 (2x). - Europe, Russia, Far East, Canada. - Numerous reports, also of other ploidy levels (e.g., 2n = 32 from Canada, Mulligan 1984).
Not included: A report of 2n = 18 (3x?) and several Japanese reports of 2n = 24 (4x), at least the latter ones probably from another species, perhaps P. asiatica.
