Limosella L.
Publ. & Syn.L., Sp. Pl.: 631 (1753).
Chromosomes(1) 28 (4x, x = 7). - Alaska, Canada (W), U.S.A. (W), Mexico. - Numerous reports.
(2) 32 (4x, x = 8). - Mia et al. (1964).
(3) 56 (8x, x = 7). - Mia et al. (1964); Vickery et al. (1968).
Not included: More chrosomome numbers are referred by Fedorov (1969): 2n = 16 (one report), 28 (several), 32 (one), 48 (one), and 56 (one). Some later reports are of, e.g., 2n = 14 and 28. As there might be doubts about the identity of the plants, and as cultivars and ornamental hybrids (partly between North and South American species) may have been involved, we have only accepted numbers reported from native western North American plants and in addition the counts of Mia et al. (1964).
