NotesIn the western European tradition, Thymus praecox s. lat. is a polymorphic, mainly western and central European species. The taxon below has been considered a race (subsp. arcticus) of either T. praecox or T. polytrichus.
Chromosomes12-ca. 100 (2x-ca. 16x). - Far East, Canada, U.S.A. - Several reports for "arvensis", "borealis", "canadensis", "sachalinensis", and "villosa".
The majority of reports for M. canadensis are of 2n = 54 (9x) or 96 (16x).
