NotesKristinsson et al. (2007) and Kristinsson (2008) mapped Mentha aquatica from the Borderline Arctic in northwestern Iceland. The species may be adventive in Iceland but grows in geothermal sites (also at its northernmost location).
Chromosomes96 (16x). - Europe. - Numerous reports.
Not included: An old report of 2n = 36 from Europe (Schürhoff 1929) probably belongs to another species.
