Galium verum L.
Publ. & Syn.L., Sp. Pl.: 107 (1753) [nom. cons.]. Lectotype (LINN): Europe. Herb. Linn. 129.13 [typ. cons.] (Nazimuddin and Qaiser 1989: 66).
NotesThe three taxa of Galium verum s. lat. entered provisionally below (two as unranked, one as ranked) are disputed. In the literature, they are partly treated as species, as races, or not at all. Tzvelev (2000a, PAF proposal, comments) treated them as species. European investigations demonstrate that there is little correspondence between ploidy levels and morphology in this group. The morphological differences are few. However, at least the mainly northern and central Asian G. densiflorum seems sufficiently different from European G. verum s. str. for at least racial recognition.
