Draba pauciflora R. Br.
Publ. & Syn.Draba oblongata auct., non R. Br. ex DC. (1821).
NotesThe northwestern European range of Draba pauciflora is restricted to Svalbard. The species is easily recognized by its very small and narrow, reddish or dirty yellow petals, its coarse but little branched leaf hairs, especially in the leaf apices, and its short infructescence with few, obovoid, subglabrous, and often olive green-brown fruits.
The type specimen of D. pauciflora, which should be in K, was absent both in the 1990s and when we looked for it again in 2006. A neotype may have to be designated for the name D. pauciflora.
Chromosomes32 (4x). - Europe (N), Siberia (N), Far East (N), Alaska (N). - At least five reports for D. adamsii, D. micropetala, D. pauciflora, and D. oblongata.
Reports of 2n = 32 (4x) from the Barrow area in northernmost Alaska (Packer and McPherson 1974, for D. adamsii; Mulligan 1974a, two counts) are assigned to this species. Both D. pauciflora and D. micropetala have been collected at Barrow (ALA, CAN, DAO, O).
