Braya humilis subspecies taxon novae-angliae (Rydb.) | |
Publ. & Syn. | Pilosella novae-angliae Rydb., Torreya 7: 158 (1907). Described from the Willoughby Mountain in Vermont (U.S.A.). - Braya novae-angliae (Rydb.) T.J. Sørensen, Meddel. Grønland 136, 8: 22 (1954). |
Notes | Petrovsky and Elven: The majority of the authors which have accepted Braya novae-angliae have considered it a plant of northeastern North American and Greenland. Hultén (1971a: 56, 323, map 47) reported localities in northern Canada and northern Alaska for one of eight 'entities' or subpopulations of B. novae-angliae ("entity 8"). Three years earlier, he mapped these as B. humilis subsp. arctica (Hultén 1968a), whereas he in 1971 restricted the North American range of subsp. arctica to one population in northern British Columbia (contrary to the type, see above). He may have mixed the information or the map symbols for these taxa. |
