Braya humilis subsp. arctica (Böcher) Rollins
Publ. & Syn.Rollins, Rhodora 55: 109 (1953). - Torularia humilis subsp. arctica Böcher, Meddel. Grønland 147, 7: 29 (1950). Syntypes (C): (1) northeastern Greenland: Jordanhill, 27. July 1930, leg. G. Seidenfaden; (2) eastern Greenland: Duséns Fjord, Ymers Ø, 10. Aug. 1933, leg. E. Tulinius; (3) eastern Greenland: Clavering Ø, Granatelv, 19. July 1933, leg. Th. Sørensen; (4) eastern Greenland: head of Loch Fyne, 02. Aug. 1929, leg. G. Seidenfaden. - Torularia arctica (Böcher) Á. Löve & D. Löve, Bot. Not. 128: 513 (1976).
NotesSubspecies arctica is assumed to be the most widespread race. The supposition that it is constantly hexaploid is based on the sorting of chromosome counts by the Löves and is probably untenable, but the plants from the type region of Greenland are hexaploid (whereas Greenland plants of P. novae-angliae are octoploid and of B. intermedia decaploid).
Chromosomes42 (6x). - Siberia (N), Far East (N), Alaska, Canada, Greenland. - Several reports, numerous counts.
GeographyAsian (N/C) - amphi-Beringian - North American (N): SIB RFE ALA CAN GRL.
