Eutrema edwardsii R. Br.
Publ. & Syn.R. Br., Chlor. Melvill.: 9 (1823). Described from Melville Island [the Winter Harbour area, 1819-1820], probably the Northwest Territories (Canada).
NotesThe wide morphological variation in Eutrema edwardsii, and also the ploidy variation, suggests some interesting structure. This species could be a rewarding object for circumpolar molecular and morphological study.
Chromosomes(1) 28 (4x). - Siberia (N, E), Far East (N), Alaska, Canada, Greenland. - Numerous reports.
(2) 42 (6x). - Russia (N), Siberia (N), Canada. - Several reports.
(3) 56 (8x). - Alaska. - Knaben (1968).
Not included: A report of 2n = 18 from the North Slope of the Brooks Range, Alaska (Rollins 1966). In need of confirmation as the base chromosome number seems to be x = 7. Internal note: Check for possible misprint or mis-citation: Contr. Gray Herb. 197: 43-65.
GeographyCircumpolar-alpine: NOR RUS SIB RFE ALA CAN GRL.
