NotesSubspecies elatior (Entity II sensu Elven 2007) is a low-arctic North American and Greenland race without a clear parallel on the Eurasian side. See, however, Yurtsev's comment above. The affinity of the more southern plants in Alaska and the Yukon Territory is uncertain, whether as subsp. elatior or subsp. nivicola.
