Potentilla stipularis L.
Publ. & Syn.Juz., Fl. URSS 10: 612 (1941). Type (LE): Russian Far East: South Chukotka, "in ditione fl. Anadyr", leg. V. Vassiljev.
NotesThe presence of tetraploids and decaploids in this morphologically uniform and easily recognized species is strange. The decaploids seem to be restricted to the Anyui Mountains, and someone should take a close look at the voucher specimens and compare them thoroughly with the tetraploids.
Yurtsev: Potentilla stipularis var. groenlandica is a special form that occurs in isolated localities on Wrangel Island and in northeastern Greenland. It may well be a climatype.
Elven and Murray: The occurrence of the same variety in eastern Greenland and Wrangel Island, and only there, throws some serious doubt on this variety as a taxon. We agree with Yurtsev that it is special but mainly in its range.
