Rubus arcticus L.
Publ. & Syn.Rubus arcticus var. grandiflorus Ledeb., Fl. Ross. 2, 1: 70 (1843). Described from Alaska.
NotesElven and Murray: Cody (1996) did not map Rubus arcticus s. str. from the arctic parts of the Yukon Territory, whereas Porsild and Cody (1980) mapped two records from the arctic mainland parts of the Northwest Territories east of the Mackenzie River. These should be confirmed as belonging to R. arcticus s. str. before occurrence in arctic Canada is accepted.
Variety grandiflorus is reported to be frequent in Chukotka and to occur in several places in western Alaska (the Seward Peninsula), perhaps also in northeastern Siberia. It seems to differ only in its larger flowers and its value is uncertain.
Chromosomes(1) 14 (2x). - Europe (N), Russia (N), Siberia (N, S), Far East (S), Alaska. - Numerous reports.
