Spiraea stevenii (C.K. Schneid.) Rydb.
Publ. & Syn.Spiraea beauverdiana auct., non C.K. Schneid. (1905).
NotesMurray and Elven: Uttal (1973) concluded that the name Spiraea beauverdiana, previously often applied for the arctic plants (e.g., by Hultén 1968a), has been misapplied and in its strict meaning refers to the distinctly non-arctic S. betulifolia Pall. var. aemiliana (C.K. Schneid.) Hara 1952 described from the Riishiri Islands in northern Japan. Several differential characters are cited. Spiraea stevenii is now generally accepted to be the correct name for the arctic plants.
