Oxytropis deflexa subsp. retrorsa (Fernald) Á. Löve & D. Löve
Publ. & Syn.Oxytropis foliolosa Hook., Fl. Bor.-Amer. 1: 146 (1831). Holotype (K): Canada: Alberta, "Ox. foliolosa Hook. Fl. Bor. Amer. Rocky Mountains" [Fort Saskatchewan], leg. Drummond? - Oxytropis deflexa var. foliolosa (Hook.) Barneby, Leafl. W. Bot. 5: 111 (1951). - Oxytropis deflexa subsp. foliolosa (Hook.) Cody, Canad. Field-Naturalist 108: 94 (1994).
NotesSubspecies retrorsa reaches the Borderline Arctic near Fort Severn on Hudson Bay in Ontario (Porsild and Cody 1980; Hultén and Fries 1986).
The combination subsp. retrorsa was validly published by Löve and Löve (1982b). Later publications of the same combination (Yurtsev 1986: 77; Hultén and Fries 1986: 1082) are superfluous. Cody (1996) seems to have considered subsp. sericea different from subsp. retrorsa as he did not cite the "retrorsa" names in synonymy (and the combination subsp. retrorsa has priority). We do not know his reasons for this. Welsh (2001) synonymized "retrorsa" and "sericea".
