NotesOrlova (1976) mapped an occurrence of Alnus incana in the Borderline Arctic on the east side of Cheskaya Guba in the Malozemelskaya Tundra. Hultén and Fries (1986) mapped it from far north in the Bolshezemelskaya Tundra and there as subsp. incana. Tzvelev (2002) considered all European Russian material to belong to a species apart from A. incana: A. argentata.
