Publ. & Syn. | Pall., Reise Russ. Reich. 3: 444, 759 (1776). Described from the Transbaikal area (Siberia). Type in LE. |
Notes | Three races of Salix berberifolia are recognized: subsp. berberifolia in south-central Siberia and non-arctic parts of the Russian Far East, subsp. fimbriata in arctic and non-arctic parts of the Russian Far East, and subsp. kamtschatica in Pacific Asia. Nedolushko (1995) synonymized subsp. kamtschatica with S. tschuktschorum, whereas other authors assign it as a race to S. tschuktschorum. We follow Skvortsov (1968) and accept it as a race of S. berberifolia. |
